City Status for Drogheda

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Drogheda has been left out of the National Planning Framework's Ireland 2040 plan with broad and far-reaching repercussions for funding and investment in the area. for the next 21 years.

The South-Louth/East-Meath area is an economically anomalous region wedged between Dublin, The Midlands, and the Border and so isn't earmarked for and won't have access to any of the investment funds assigned to those regions.

For the guts of a millennium until 2014, Drogheda had it's own Borough Council and was legally a 'county corporate' in the same way as Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Cork, Kilkenny, and Waterford. It is the most rapidly growing urban centre in the country and has already surpassed Waterford City's population.

Sign the petition to demand Drogheda be recognised as city and not have it locked out of government funding and investment for the next 2 decades!
