Agrim Chopra started this petition to National Payments Corporation of India

According to RuPay's official website, "RuPay is India’s indigenous card scheme created by the National Payments Corporation of India. It was conceived to fulfill RBI’s vision to offer a domestic, open-loop, multilateral system which will allow all Indian banks and financial institutions in India to participate in electronic payments. It is made in India, for every Indian to take them towards a “less-cash” society". This aim is pretty well defined, and due to that most of the Indian banks now offer RuPay debit cards by default. However, a large majority of the sites accepting payment online accept only Visa and MasterCard, and entering a RuPay card shows an error. This is wrong due to the following reasons:

1) The very purpose of this initiative becomes blurred if the sites are not going to accept the payments from RuPay cards anyway.

2) People having a single card like me are often stuck in such situations and have to search for alternate ways for the payment.

Hence, it is requested that accepting RuPay cards is made mandatory for all online services operating in India, so that the above 2 problems can be sorted out and we promote Indian initiatives, rather than having to rely on Visa and MasterCard(due to not having an option).
