More Lottery numbers means fewer winners. THIS IS WRONG

Since the National Lottery was changed to include extra extra numbers to choose from, the frequency of top prize wins has clearly dropped. Whilst the same amount of prize money may be being won, it is by fewer winners but with bigger prize amounts (a recent top prize win was in excess of £21M but after a considerable number of draws with no top prize winner) Surely this reduction of big prize opportunities is less appealing and therefore everyone, including those receiving lottery funding may possibly lose out.
