OAU Students' Union Action Committee started this petition to National Judicial Council; National Assembly; Human Rights Commission

On the 10th of July, 1999, five students of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun state Nigeria were gruesomely massacred by cultists on the university campus. The students were George Yemi Iwilade, (fondly called Afrika), the then secretary general of the students' union; 400 level medical student, Eviano Ekelemu; a graduating student, Yemi Ajiteru; 100-Level Philosophy student, Babatunde Oke, and Ekpede Godfrey. The perpetrators of this crime were never brought to justice and are still roaming freely in the society, including the then Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Wale Omole who was indicted as an accomplice in the attack, given the accounts by one of the culprits that were once arrested. The arrested culprits were suprisingly discharged by the Nigerian court of law in what can be described as a compromising manner, while the families, friends, university community and members of the general public continue to sorrowly mourn the young and bright students whose lives were suddenly cut short. We are asking for diligent prosecution of this criminal case to ensure justice for the slain souls.
