In the past 2 weeks the increase and removal of Confederate statues and monuments has escalated. It has escalated to the point that individuals and some city/state officials want to now remove Italian/Italian American statues. The targets of removal are Christopher Columbus in NYC, Mayor Frank Rizzo in Philadelphia and Italo Balbo in Chicago. We as Italian Americans need to preserve our culture and historic monuments in America. Not only I'm I asking for the statues to stay exactly were they are I am asking for more to be erected. To name a few, Amerigo Vespucci, explorer and America's namesake. Guglielmo Marconi, great inventor who pioneered long distance radio tramission. Geraldine Ferraro, first female vice presidential candidate. We must preserve our heritage for furture generations. We must express to the United States and World the accomplishments Italians and Italian Americans have contributed to make America what she is today. We've worked to hard as a nationality from centuries ago to the turn of the century till today to watch it be stripped away. Thank you.
