For many years in the NHL the Norris trophy has been for the best defenseman.  It takes into account every aspect of the defensemans position including goals, assists and points.

I believe it is time that another award be given out to the best offensive defenseman in the NHL.  It should be named after one of the best and the person that definitively changed the position in Bobby Orr.

Forwards have awards for top goal scorer, points, best defensive forward so it is about time we recognize both the players that deserve the award and Bobby Orr for.changing the position so much.
