Epilepsy is more common than Autism, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease Combined. Yet somehow Epilepsy remains a mystery to so many. How can that be? Today, I found out. I was just checking the 2012 National Health Information Center website, specifically National Health Observances. It gives the option to jump to your month of choice...I jumped to November and was shocked to see what IS NOT there.... There is no listing for Epilepsy Awareness month!
As the mother of two young men living with this life altering neurological condition I am duty bound to support Epilepsy Awareness. As a human being I am compelled to make sure that no person or family member of persons living with Epilepsy will ever feel alone in their struggle.
There are 2.2 million Americans living with Epilepsy, 65 million people world wide. Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with Epilepsy! As a nation we can do better to bring forth awareness.
