As an FFA alumni, It was truly disheartening seeing the lack of action brought upon by the National FFA: an organization that promotes leadership, teamwork and personal growth. How are students supposed to lead and take action if the organization leading them doesn’t do the same?

I care for Ffa and feel like we as a national organization don’t need to be put down but brought up

I am signing because as a member of my Liberty Ranch FFA I see it as my duty to uphold the promise of moving forward although still embracing the past and to share in the brotherhood that is FFA no matter what the color of your skin is. California FFA is pretty progressive, however other states aren’t quite as forward thinking. I believe that national FFA needs to set a better standard for organization as a whole. Perhaps then every state can be as accepting and forward thinking as California FFA.

FFA officers should model good citizen behavior and this falls short. If they really want to mentor him through this- they will help him and all other FFA members understand that there are many races of people who farm and many are treated less than their white community members. It must be recognized. This is a great opportunity for FFA to lead. If these kids move on to corporate ag jobs- there will be diversity training included. Prepare them now.
