We are in unprecedented times in the healthcare world. Amidst a pandemic that stands to take the lives of over 1 million Americans, the voice of every healthcare worker carries incredible power.  Using that power to spread mis- and disinformation is unacceptable and a direct violation of our oath as healthcare providers.  Unfortunately we see the spread of false information regarding COVID and our strongest tools to control this disease, vaccines and masks, at every level of the healthcare setting.  

On July 29th, 2021 the Federation of State Medical Boards took a bold and necessary stance against misinformation.  Any physician spreading mis- or disinformation about the Covid-19 vaccines can now face restrictions and/or revocation of their medical license. We the undersigned strongly support their announcement and ask that more healthcare governing bodies follow suit. 

Our patients and communities have never been more vulnerable to the harm of incorrect medical advice. It directly injures our communities today and frays the trust in Medicine as a whole, on every level, in every field and profession. 

Please consider the mission of your certifications and review if the spread of misinformation amidst a global pandemic fits within the code of conduct befitting those certified.
