Protect Sacred Sites, Protect the Chaudiere Falls...

Windmill is urging to move forward with it's development on the Chaudiere Falls without any inclusiveness of our Anishnabe People. Since time of immemorial, it has always been known that the Anishnabe-Algonquins have the duty to protect these lands and never give away the land for any form of trade. There needs to be a collective or mutual agreement to permit anyone from the ceding our land that will not secure our future generations. There has been no proper consultations given to any of our communities to notify of a massive urban project until recently. The planning stages has shown exclusiveness, rather than inclusiveness to our Anishnabe Nation.

Anishnabe people were not given any considerations to bring a collective voice to the planning nor a chance to vocalize our concerns nor to take part in the decision making for the future of the Islands within the Anishnabe Territory. The Chaudiere Falls known as "Akikodjiwan" in Anishnabemowin has been a great part of our Nation's history. It has been kept ceded for centuries by our ancestors past and it is also a sacred part to our neighboring Nations that has provided them a Cultural Center for many, many years to practice traditions and conduct ceremonies following our Ancestors examples. The Chaudiere Islands is part of our legacy, centuries of histories and the basis of democratic relationships between many Nations.

With the 2 Two Row Wampum agreement we have with Canada, it was accepted to have a nation-to-nation relationship which applies matters such as Nation’s Right to preserve our Culture and Fundamental Values with our People and Land without any interference

Presently, representatives from  the National Capital Commission cannot take the authority to make any final decision for the future of the Unceded Anishnabe Land or for the Chaudiere Islands. As the Anishnabe people of this unceded territory, we OPPOSE in the decision making to allow rezoning and developments to take place for the Fall of 2015.

Help protect our Sacred Sites... protect the Chaudiere Falls.. and allow our communities a fair representation by setting up a full hearing..

The Anishnabe Unceded Territory is the ownership of the people and we have the inherited right to speak for the lands..
