Support cannabis workplaces that do not obstruct the right of workers to unionize

Cannabis companies that take seriously responsible business practices and corporate accountability within the cannabis industry recognize the need to set concrete, measurable steps throughout the cannabis value chain to ensure that cannabis workers receive a living wage and are free to bargain collectively through representation of their own choosing.
A genuine, pro-worker cannabis industry is one where employees assert their right to create, join and participate in a labor union without employer interference or intimidation. Violations of worker rights are inconsistent with claims of sustainable, organic and ethical cannabis.
Medical cannabis patients, consumers and community leaders who want clean medicine and quality product have the power to make sure cannabis company owners and investors support strong occupational health practices and workplace protections.
We can create a global cannabis cultivation industry that puts people over profits.
Pledging to support cannabis workplaces where employers do not obstruct the right of workers to unionize is consistent with values of community engagement and corporate social and environmental responsibility.
A natural next step for the National Cannabis Industry Association and other professional organizations is to expand their existing values to explicitly state that strong occupational practices, workplace protections and freedoms to organize and collectively bargain are key features of the legitimate cannabis industry.
Amplify your impact by applying and sharing the International Cannabis Workers Code (http://fsandgreen.org/code) and asking company owners if their cannabis employees receive a living wage and have the guaranteed right to unionize.
