Many communities are still practicing female genital mutilations/cuttings and forced/child marriages in Kenya. This cultural heritage is a disrespect and intimidating to the victims. Prevalence of FGM/C stands at 21% and is mostly practiced by communities encouraging male chauvinism at the same where women and girls are seen as lesser beings such that they have no say on matters/issues concerning their lives, reproductive health, and well-being in general.

We are conducting  thorough campaigns to Sensitize Samburu, Somali, Maasai, Meru, Kisii, Kuria, Pokot, among others to stop FGM/C and forced/child marriages to the girls and women.

Ladies and girls in these communities go through a lot but there are few caring about their welfare. We are establishing a Safe House for girls and ladies escaping FGM/C and child marriages in Kenya within Kisumu County. 

Help Kenya Humanist Alliance to achieve this goal of providing a safe house for these vulnerable girls and women from the named communities. 

The facility is being constructed within an orphanage housing about 74 children. The school going girls who have escaped FGM/C shall be admitted to various schools to enable them proceed with their education away from any risk posed on them by those adhering to the negative cultural heritages.
