The 74th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), took place on March 24, 2002, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories honoring films released in 2001.
The nominees for the 74th Academy Awards were announced on February 12, 2002, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California, by Frank Pierson, president of the Academy, and the actress Marcia Gay Harden.
Notably absent from the list of nominees was a film which, if nominated, could have swept the award show like no movie before it. It is our firm belief that Jay and Silent Bob strike back should be given consideration for a multitude of Oscar awards that this fine piece of cinema deserves.
So, with that being said. We at Who's Right podcast are petitioning to have the following people retro-actively nominated for the following:
Best Picture – Kevin Smith (writer, director)
Best Actor – Jason Mewes
Best Actress (multiple nominations)
o Shannon Elizabeth
o Eliza Dushku
o Ali Larter
o Jennifer Schwalbach Smith
Best Director – Kevin Smith
Best Supporting Actor (multiple nominations)
o Matt Damon
o Ben Affleck (He was the bomb in Phantoms)
Please join us in our fight to right the injustices of the past.
