The spending plan for fiscal 2018 would provide 2 percent pay raises for teachers and most state employees. However, the mid-year budget included 20 percent salary hikes for state law enforcement.
We need to re-assess how we value our education systems compared to our law enforcement systems in the state of Georgia. Crime and poverty, education and opportunity-are all intertwined. We cannot place MORE value on the SECURITY of our community than we place on the FUTURE of our community.
We are not asking for money to magically appear.
This is a proposition for an implementation of systems that would result in a salary increase no less than 15% for all teachers, state-wide.
Multi-Classroom Leadership, Elementary Specialization, and Time-Technology swap are all systems that can be put into place to increase teacher pay WITHIN BUDGET and WITHOUT INCREASING CLASS SIZE.
