Keep Woodward and Washington Schools open

The Michigan School Reform Office has added Woodward School for Technology and Research and the Washington Writer's Academy to the list of schools at risk of being forced to close. As the parents of children attending these schools, we are asking that they be removed from consideration of forced closure. Closing these schools will be detrimental to the community as it would not only greatly impact the students and families that attend the school, it would have negative effects on the faculty and have far reaching consequences throughout the wider community.
Both Woodward School for Technology and Research and The Washington Writer's Academy have made great strides in the past 2 years; their dedication to their students, as well as their efforts to maintain open communication with parents far exceeds our experiences with other area schools. As families whose children attend these schools, we stand fully behind the teachers and faculty. We ask that the School Reform Office visit our schools, meet our wonderful students and see for themselves the amazing opportunities and work WITH us in our schools to promote and achieve success for all instead of against the students who would ultimately be the ones hurt by the decision to close these schools.
