Traffic Safety in Herricks- Police Patrol Cars around Schools

“We, the parents in Herricks School District, jointly ask the Commanding Officer of Nassau County Police Department, Third Precinct - to assign his/ her patrol cars and police officers around the 6 schools (High School, Shelter Rock Academy, Middle School, Searingtown Elementary, Center Street Elementary and Denton Avenue Elementary)
… during school hours, especially in the morning arrival times, and afternoon dismissal times (including after students leave after school activities) to ensure students, parents and crossing guard’s safety
… from speeders, distracted drivers, those that don’t stop at stop sign, those that don’t yield to pedestrians at marked crossings, and those that pass stopped bus with red lights on.
Please enforce these traffic rules so our kids can be safe. “
(recently, more parents are sharing situations where their children and they themselves were almost run over by dangerous drivers, shared in Facebook groups for Herricks parents. There are too many of these incidents.)
