NASCAR has seen a steady decline in viewership since its peak in the 2005. There are many factors contributing to this decline such as crappy video games, and bland drivers; however, I believe SPEED is the number 1 cause of this loss of viewership. since its addition to the sport restrictor plates have created a new kind of environment on the track. These restrictions are supposedly in the interest of driver and fan safety, although many members of both of these groups feel that the close packing of cars and their inability to achieve separation may actually make the racing at these tracks more dangerous, as there are often massive and frightening multi-car pileups during races (especially at Talladega). Such crashes are dubbed "the big one" by drivers and fans and usually happen once per race. On rare occasions there are multiple such incidents, or on even rarer occasions, none. It certainly makes for a different style of racing at these events than that which occurs at the other superspeedways used by NASCAR, as reduced power makes it more difficult to pass other drivers. Many of the greatest NASCAR drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Sr hated the use of them and the problems they created, he was once quoted "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast at Charlotte. We're going too fast here.' Well, get the hell home," he said. "If you're not a racecar driver and not a racer, stay home. Don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Stay the hell home. Get out of the race car if you've got feathers on your legs or butt. Put a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up there and eat that candy butt." Yet in todays NASCAR, drivers like joey logano are praised for complaining about the dangers of a job he chose. If speed is an issue your in the wrong profession and should go the hell home. If NASCAR wants its fans back then look no futher than the words of Ricky Bobby  "I wanna go fast" In conclusion, NASCAR and Jim France WE JUST WANNA GO FAST.
