Starting School Hours Later for The Health of Our Nation's Youth

This petition is meant to change the regular hours for school (8:00 AM to 3:30 PM) to a later time, like 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. We would still achieve the required amount of hours per year, and all children (especially teenagers) would be able to sleep well enough to retain and understand what our educators are saying to them.
If the children are in sports, they wouldn't want to be out so late after school, so this petition also proposes that the athletes start their practices in the mornings, at approximately 7:00 - 8:00 AM, practice for two hours, and then come home for an early lunch, returning to school at the previously stated 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
People 10 years old and up have a melatonin cycle that starts slower than normal. The average teen's melatonin starts up at approximately 2:00 AM. That means they don't naturally get tired until that time. Having them wake up at 6:00 AM to get ready for school gives them eight hours tops of sleep, and that's not even enough for a growing human. Ten hours is absolutely perfect for a growing child, especially if they have a mental or physical disability.
If children get less sleep than normal, they can go unconscious at inappropriate times (class, work, sports' practice, etc.), become physically ill, and even develop mental disorders like depression or anxiety. Of course, that can be a part of normal hormones caused by puberty, but sleep deprivation can severely speed up the process or cause it to worsen.
If school hours start later than they do today, children can obtain more energy from their longer sleeping hours, slip into REM sleep much easier, and lessen the stress on our youth's lives. Pushing the hours later could get them to retain more knowledge, make them physically healthier, mentally healthier, and, hopefully, make a very bright and outgoing generation to better our society.
