David Haverlah started this petition to NASA and

Okay, here is some information. Mercury is smaller than Ganymede. According to the definition of a planet, something has to be nearly spherical and have a clear orbit. This means if we released all the spherical moons and dwarf planets to have their own orbits, they would be classified as planets. This is a problem. So, I want to change the definition of a planet and add a size limit (if it gets over this limit, it is a planet unless it’s, of course, a star). I think this limit should be 2,000 miles in radius. That means Mars is safe, Ganymede is still a moon, and Mercury is declassified.
