There are over 600 diesel boats and ferries that run on the Ganges in Varanasi. These are used to by tourist and locals alike for transportation across the Ganges as well as for Joyrides. These ferries consume about 7,000 Litres of diesel in a day and produce about 18.8 Tonnes of CO2 every day! In a year this amounts to 6.4k Tonnes CO2 emissions. This amount of pollution is choking the city.

From preserving aquatic ecosystems, to reduction in pollution-air and sound, to financial savings in the long run; the benefits of solar ferry & boats are endless. Yet there are no takers. These ferries can not only help varanasi breath again but can also help with Clean Ganga, Make In India, Swatch Bharat and skilled India initiatives as well. It also has the potential to be the backbone of India's inland water transport system on the Ganges & Yamuna.
This is an appeal to Prime Minister Of India, Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Nitin Gatkari to get Solar Ferries and Boats to Varanasi and help save the Ganga and let Varanasi breath gain!
