Stop Pres. Trump military state
Stop Pres. Trump military state
To our leaders in Congress and the Supreme Court:
This is a call for action by your constituents. The president called out military action against the citizens of the United States to quell what he calls disturbances from protests around the country. As you know, Americans have been protesting the death of George Floyd who died under police control last week, and only one officer was arrested days after videos of this restraint was made public. As a result, Americans of all races have been protesting this act of injustice.
Today, the president came out of hiding, to state “I swore an oath to uphold the laws of our nation. And that is exactly what I will do”. In the Rose Garden (after he commanded police to gas and blast bomb protestors who were peacefully assembling by the White House and Lafayette Park to have a photo op in front of the Episcopal church and conference in the Rose Garden) he laid out his next strategy: “ That is why I am taking immediate presidential action to stop the violence and restore security and safety in America. I am mobilizing all available federal resources civilian and military to stop the rioting and looting to end the destruction and arson and to protect the rights of law abiding Americans, including your Second Amendment rights. Therefore, the following measures are going into effect immediately. First, we are ending the riots and lawlessness that has spread throughout our country. We will end it now. Today, I have strongly recommended to every governor to deploy the National Guard in sufficient numbers that we dominate the streets. Mayors and governors must establish an overwhelming law enforcement presence until the violence has been quelled. If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them.” This is illegal by the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act. This must be stopped now. The American people peacefully assembling as described in the 1st amendment, it is their right to protest. The looting and vandalizing of businesses and cities have largely been instigated by the far-right white nationalists. They follow the social media tweets from this president in which to act, which has been obvious from this pandemic against states with Democratic governors, and this last week with flagged and blocked tweets suggesting violence. The president basically declared war on the American people today from the White House. It is wrong. It is illegal according to our laws. We are not an enemy to be fought. He needs to be stopped now before more lives are taken. We as law abiding citizens of the United States demand protections against a militarized state and we demand that this is stopped now. Because this president is inciting violence and terror to the citizens of the United States (again by shooting tear gas into crowds of peaceful protestors before his speech) and then lying about protecting these same citizens by using the military to police the people of the United States. It is imperative you act now to stop him and the power he is abusing. I implore you to act swiftly and for the protection and safety of all Americans. We are not a totalitarian state. There are checks and balances for a reason. Reaching across party lines and acting in the benefit of our country is needed now more than even. As the legislative powers that the Founding Fathers put into place, the citizens of the United States ask you to represent us at our most desperate time of need for our country.
