Jay M. Robinson High School is getting a new basketball court & who better to be named after than the man who’s led the team for the past 9 years, Coach Lavar Batts Sr.? Not only has Coach Batts well surpassed his 100th victory achieved at Robinson over 2 years ago, but he’s also led the school to 2 state championship titles! Besides having a winning record on the court, Coach Batts is also a hero off the court! He is the true epitome of greatness! Batts has a heart of gold, yearning to make a difference not just on the court but more importantly off the court. He has a passion for giving & humbly looks for nothing in return. He works with exceptional children in the classroom, pushes his athletes to excel academically, & is a father figure to many. He loves unconditionally, sees the good in everyone, and eagerly takes responsibility for helping our youth become tomorrow’s leaders! Batts is selfless & puts our youths’ needs above his own. It would be a high honor for anyone to have Coach Batts as part of their staff but he’s stayed true to Robinson & the relationships that depend on him! It’s time for us as a community to stand up & support this recognition for Coach Batts! There’s no one more deserving!!!!!!!!!
