Crossing solution for school children in Ampthill Bedfordshire

Crossing solution for school children in Ampthill Bedfordshire
Why this petition matters

Central Bedfordshire Council have cancelled crossing support for school children in Ampthill needing to cross the very busy and potentially dangerous Dunstable street before and after school.
With children returning to school from Monday 7th September, parents have been informed just days before school starts, that their children will receive no safety support whilst crossing the road. With such high traffic flow this will cause high levels of late attendance at best and the risk of severe harm or even death at worst.
This shows lack of regard for children’s safety and well-being and a solution is desperately needed. Either with a fixed and permanent crossing or with the reinstatement of a crossing assistant/lolly pop person.
As a parent in Ampthill myself and with a child attending Alameda middle school I share the concern of many parents of those children that are being left to run the gauntlet that is Dunstable street and we need a solution immediately to prevent any potential danger to our children.
