Ingrid Smyrna started this petition to Justice for AJ

On January 23rd, 2020 my son was shot and killed by a Georgia State Patrol officer for an alleged stolen rental car. This was the number ten police shooting for the year just in the month of January. It seem to me that the state troupers in Georgia are trigger happy and has no regards for Black men lives.

I believe that this type of aggressive behavior by the police should be investigated thoroughly by the Internal Affairs Department and the officer who took my child’s life must be punished to the full extent of the law for his actions.  Many of the police shooting cases in the state of Georgia seems to be settled by the state for monetary compensation to the family. There is no accountability, no apologies and justice for police shooting deaths.

I would like to see more mothers of children whose lives were cut short by a police shooting for some senseless crimes, take action by calling for an end to police profiling against Black men.

The laws need to be changed by setting appropriate standards for crimes that may require an arrest which should not result in a loss of life. The commissioner of police need to re-examine the policies that are currently in place for imminent danger because there are a lot of lies being told by the police that they are in fair for their life and that is why they have to shoot to kill.

I intend to fight for justice against the police officer who took my son’s life because this allegedly stolen car crime does not warrant a life being taken

Let us unite and fight for change in policing laws.
