We need to find a different way to take a covid test! Today I had to hold my son down to take his second covid test. After the first test, he had told me he doesn't want to do that again! He ended up sick so we had to get a test done! I know I am not the only parent not only traumatized but also very heartbroken to have to hold their babies down and force them to take this test! We have being dealing with covid for two years now, there's no reason this should be the only way to take a test! As a mother we swear to protect and not harm our children, but yet we hold them down and make them so comfortable! Any other time children and youth would be called! The doctors and nurses teach you how to hold them down like it's normal to do this! I get they have probably done it enough times so it does see normal but we should normalize it! My son is a very good listener, he's smart, caring, and so kind! So to see him like I've never seen him before was so traumatic to us both. I'm not one for normally grabbing my camera but for this I had to. My son held himself face down grab the doctors bed saying he's not doing it! I can get him to eat a plate of veggies before ever taking another covid test! I get they want to be safe but it's that time of year. My son had a 24 hour bug and the doctor said he was fine and he still had to take it, just so he can get a note for school! How is this right!?! We do have a choice to keep them home for 10 days, but don't they say it's 14 days quarantine so how and why do they say 10 days!?! They say after 3 days is truancy, but the doctors won't give you a note without the covid test so how are you going to get them an excused note to not get in trouble? Not only that who can take that kind of time off of work?!? With renting being so high along with gas, it's hard to even have money for Christmas!!! So taking 10 days off is just not realistic for most people so they along with their child(ren) are forced into taking this covid test! With how many vaccines and everything of that sort there should be another test available at least for the children!!! I know I'm not the only mother that feels that way. Anyone who can say suck it up buttercup to me, you have no heart or you never had to go through it yourself! It's heartbreaking, I've NEVER EVER seen my son act like he has during this test! I've never had him stick with his No like he has with this test! I normally get an ooo fine! So I had to hold myself down on him, grab his hands and watch him scream for me to stop! I tried to be strong but I caved and was crying with him. Afterwards I grabbed him quick and we sat holding each other in the room for 10 minutes in silence!!! My son and I are very friendly, talkative people so this is rare for us! I can not stop seeing my sons face and hearing his screams! I know I am not the only mother replay their child(rens) torture in their heads! Even after his favorite treats and shows, he was still a bit upset. Thankfully he settled back into his routine but I have not. I have been replaying that in my head all day. I will not be getting my child tested again. I will not be putting him through that over and over when it's that time of season and his doctor doesn't think he really needed it but he had to save his own butt! Just so they don't get sued (which I completely get) my son has to go through this again and again! There's no reason is so contagious and they have to shove it so far up their little noses and twist if for ten seconds! My son lasted 4 minutes and a huge bugger came out but that wasn't good enough! They can get DNA from your cheeks they can test you for the flu through a cheek but the oo Soo serious covid thats so contagious they have to shove up your nose. Some of the nurses aren't even gentle, some of them dont care. We need a different way to find out if a child has covid! The adults can deal but at least for our babies! They got these tiny little noses and there more susceptible to pain then us adults are! So please find a different way to find out if our babies have covid!
