My name is Sarah Qureshi , I came to Pakistan when I was approximately around 6 months pregnant to attend a wedding , I experienced some pain and I had severe diarrhea and vomiting I went to an obgyn here in karachi south city hospital she did my regular check up and told me to get some tests done I got my tests done and came to know that I had gestational diabetes and because of that I was experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions and due to contractions I was hospitalized for a day they wanted to admit me for four days and told me that if the contractions continued they would do my c section right away but with God’s will the medication I was prescribed helped me and the contractions stopped but I was on bed rest so my doctor refused me to write a letter that I could travel and me being a doctor I knew that I couldn’t travel in that condition, I had conceived after six and half years this was my precious pregnancy I couldn’t take risk so I delivered my baby here in Pakistan , after my delivery I’ve been trying to get her passport but I am being denied it’s one thing or the other , the consular officers have been treating me as if I am a convict , my baby girl needs to see a pediatric cardiologist ASAP I showed them her doctors certificate, after being told (after 3 months of her birth)that I will be getting her passport after three days since I had submitted all the required documents but again there was another hitch that they created even after confirming from the hospital that I am the mother and my husband came for my delivery still they didn’t believe me and took a written statement from me in a locked room with two officers one had a smirk on his face seemed like they were mocking me after an hour of interview and writing down my statement still they told me to get a DNA test done , I can’t afford that kit I told them if they would order one for me I will take the test but I was refused , my boys are US my husband works 40-50 hours a week and he has to pay the baby sitter we are not left with enough money to pay our bills , all of our family is suffering but no one seems to care , I request all of you to sign my petition and ask them to issue my baby her passport and I will take the DNA test in US if they are so concerned because then we won’t have to pay the sitter we will be able to order the kit and get it done
My congresswoman has given them a call but all in vain
They refuse to listen to me or answer any of my questions ,Whenever I call I get the same answer that the consular officer is not in his office , when I call they hang up on me .
I think I am facing racism here because I am Muslim and because of that I am being denied my rights .
i have started to have panic attacks cause my little girl is unwell my boys are not well taken care of .
As citizens of US we have a total right to apply for my child’s passport and it’s her right to become a citizen,USA is my home now and because of the ethnicity I can’t come to my home.
please it’s a humble request to sign this petition and end racism.
