It all started today, Tuesday 8th of October, around lunch time at work.

I went to the office bathroom, as I usually do around lunch. I went to the bathroom not only to do my business, but also to gather my thoughts, to maybe think about a work-related problem I'm trying to solve or to just stare into the white wall behind the toilet seat as a type of meditation. But today it was different.

Something changed. Not a lot, but enough to make my bathroom visit more inconvenient then it needed to be. I get now when people say they miss the "good ol' days".

The good ol' toilet paper holder, a simple and reliable invention, had been replaced with a more "advanced", industrial version of itself. You know, the kind that you find at public restrooms. The kind that you have to dig around for the toilet paper to come out. The kind that you would never find at somebody's cozy home.

I just stood there, baffled and speechless. My glory days of toilet meditation had come to an end, just like that. I now have to interrupt my thoughts and focus on a task that I before did without even thinking about it. An instinct had been taken away from me.

I proceeded to dig around for toilet paper. Holding my private area with my left hand, sticking my whole right hand into this devil of a paper holder. It didn't have to be this way, I thought to myself.

I'm not against change. Some changes are for the better. The bathroom's soap container and paper hand towel holder were also replaced by a more "environment friendly" alternative. I don't mind those, I actually like them quite a bit.

This is a petition for change. A necessary change. A rollback, as we call it in my field of work. A petition to bring back the old, easier-to-use, home-grade toilet paper holder to the office.

Because if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
