Countless studies have shown that earlier school starting times are one of the main causes of students getting less sleep. This has a negative impact on students academic performances. Research shows that people with less sleep have more difficulty paying attention, causing students to get lower grades. The average school starting time is 8:00 a.m. 

Teenagers (ages 14-17) need 8-10 hours of sleep each night. studies have shown that Nearly 60% of middle schoolers don't get enough sleep on school nights. For High schoolers that number is over 70%. This data shows that later school starting times would benefit students, and even teachers.
