We’ve created this petition to try to gain support in the change of the MVHS dress code. For decades, it’s been aimed specifically at feminine clothing, not allowing clothes to show too much chest, shoulders, legs, stomach, etc. There have been many instances of men wearing things that have broken the dress code and facing no repercussions for it, and yet the girls get scrutinized for their clothing every day. 

We want this to change! Shoulders, legs, collarbones, stomachs, and other body parts should not be distracting. If it is, let’s change the perspective of the person looking, not the person expressing their style.

We need your help to grab the administration’s attention, and let them know that the people at Mountain View are tired of missing class simply because of the shirt they’re wearing.

Please join us in this change next week, starting Tuesday, by wearing whatever makes you happy, and writing a message with it! You could create posters, signs, write on your arms, or whichever area you’re sick of being dress coded for. Send a simple but clear message that we’re done having our worth determined by our clothing. Let’s write letters, send email, and most importantly, wear whatever makes you feel confident! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
