Mutts N. Guts started this petition to Instagram and

To whom it may concern in the Instagram and Facebook Public Policies Department,

In recent months there has been a significant drop in the amount of allowed exposure and engagement in relation to pages dedicated to medical knowledge, case study, and education. This exchange of information in our medical communities has steadily grown due to active interest in our content. This includes, but is not limited to, medically and surgically graphic imagery. We as a community implore you to return to the days of open and freely shared information. We understand your hope to deter information that people can use to harm themselves; however, information dedicated to the health and wellness of both pets and people, should not be included in such censorship. We respect your authority, and we seek your support in our cause to make medical knowledge readily available. We do not seek to provide diagnosis or treatment plans. We simply offer the power of knowledge. Furthermore our community wishes to stop being labeled as offensive and/or subversive. We feel that this has become discriminatory against those that wish to better the Instagram knowledge base as a whole.

With your support we hope to achieve the following:

1) Allow medical accounts to prove their worth through communication and/or vetting.
Allow medical accounts to be categorized as educational material.

2) Help to protect medical accounts from being picked up by the algorithm as graphic horror or sexualized imagery.

3) Give individual pages the ability to blur their own graphic content with the option to open so they do not have to be reported for that feature to initiate.

4) Open a dialog with medical accounts rather than simply banning (or shadowbanning) them.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration as well as your support and direction toward remedying this current situation. Please help us continue to build our medical communities so that we may continue to help build your platform.
