Black Lives Matter Muskegon started this petition to Muskegon Heights Mayor and City Council

Black Lives Matter Muskegon is on the forefront of creating a world free of anti-Blackness, where every Black person has the social, economic, and political power to thrive. Our goal as an organization is to dismantle structures that end or limit Black Lives, educate our people, be a helping hand to our community, and to hold our elected officials accountable for their promises made to the Black community.

We are an organization that listens to the voices and cries of our community. With that being said, a large percentage of the Black community in Muskegon Heights has voiced to us their desire for a meaningful street mural reading “BLACK LIVES MATTER”.

We are well aware of the construction project currently happening, on Sherman Boulevard. We are requesting at the completion of this construction project that the City of Muskegon Heights will authorize the painting of “Black Lives Matter” along this very prominent rodeway in a Black community of Muskegon Heights.
