Musicians institute closed campus and went completely online on April 6th SP20 due to COVID-19. Students got promised 10% in pandemic discounts that were applied for the Summer quarter. At the same time as our education went online, Musicians institute launched "MI online" which you can study from your home country, without being present on campus.
Just to be clear. "Associate of arts in performance" for on-campus registered students got a tuition rate of 545$ per credit, and the tuition rate for MI online is 450$ per credit.
On-campus registered students read the same amount of credit, the same courses, and everything is online in zoom classes. We got no access to campus, no practice rooms, drum labs, library, studios, or rehearsal rooms. But we pay 95$ more per credit. We paid about 17% more for the same education for SP20 and 7% more for this ongoing discounted summer quarter.
There are drummers who got nowhere to practice, and students are struggling to be able to stay in school. As long as MI continues online, we demand a lowered tuition fee, matched up to the tuition fee of MI online. Enrolled students also deserve a refund of 17% for SP20.
