anonymous mvusd petition started this petition to Murrieta Valley Unified School District
The semester-length is incredibly long for students, specifically those who are academically motivated and strive towards excellence in each of their classes. Spring break used to be considered a time to relax for two weeks. MVUSD has stripped the student body and employees of the usual second week of spring vacation, allowing for only a SINGLE WEEK off in a full semester, effectuating students to be less motivated and be more worn-out than they already were. The week taken off of spring break was added to summer break to elongate it. Although this may seem like a good idea at first glance, it really is not. Most students don't plan on activities for the entire summer period and often become bored after the first month, and so, therefore, the week added to summer is utterly pointless. For students who do their best at all times, they are easily worn out and must have an effective amount of time to recover, recuperate, and prepare.

The school district must add back the week to spring break in order to maintain the sanity of students, as well as their happiness and well-being, making school a more enjoyable and stress-free environment.

I am a straight-A+ student taking the most advanced courses available at my high school. With these classes and extracurriculars, I often find myself working late at night and then waking up early in the morning to finish my homework and to study. I wear myself out and have my stress peaked 24/7. Vacations and breaks are the only things I look forward to anymore.
In my opinion, as well as that of many others, it is best to have a longer break in order to recover and prepare for the last quarter of the school year; in order to finish strong without being as stressed out as this year. Please sign this petition in order to have a break!
