Wendy Martinez started this petition to Murrieta Unified School District and

We request that an in-person graduation for the Class of 2020 and Murrieta students be held at a later date, considering and acknowledging the students whom have worked so hard to achieve recognition. For some, a virtual graduation does not suffice for such a large milestone in one's academic career;  we ask that you reconsider scheduling an in-person ceremony due to all other senior activities being cancelled. For students, this has been a negative impact on their mental health because of the loss of connections with their friends and educators, and closure of such an important chapter in their lives.

This petition is intended to reach all of Riverside County officials and district administrators who have determined what is best for our students so early on. Based on this decision, students have not been given the option to celebrate their successes through an in-person graduation at a later date and instead, must settle for a virtual graduation. However, as a working class citizen and parents of student/child who attends Murrieta high school, it is my right to oppose these restrictions made locally. Also, it's benificial for all working class citizens who have worked so hard to motivate, support and inspire their children and future generations, to witness their children achieve educational success despite current circumstances. As a resident of Murrieta, I believe most people would strongly agree with my position.
