The Secondary School curriculum in the UK is whitewashed and we as students don't get educated enough on different cultures and history from other countries. There is much more to history then the six wives of King Henry VIII, there are many more religions than just Christianity and Islam and there is so much more to Black history than slavery. There is only so much that schools can do to help create a diverse and equal environment and much of the faults in our schools lie in the national curriculum decided by the government.
The first step towards creating an accepting society is educating people and school is for e d u c a t i n g . We don't want the future generations to be ignorant of other cultures and have a small minded, bias perspective on the world. It must change. A better, more diverse curriculum will help students grasp the world better, be more appreciative, understanding and respectful of other cultures.
