Michelle Hrynchuk started this petition to Concerned Citizens of Sioux Lookout and

Many residents of Sioux Lookout are unaware of the Official Planning Amendment to rezone and allow to use of Crown Land for 18 Septic Waste Drying Beds (Sludge Ponds), by Keay Contracting & Septic.  These beds are going to be located off the Pelican Road, near the entrance to the historic Sioux Mountain trail.

This small area consists of an old growth forest stand preserving a bio-diversity for the many creatures and birds.  They want to cut down these beautiful trees that managed to survive the '67 forest fire.  For decades, generations have come to forage mushrooms and berries from this beautiful, pristine woodland.  The area surrounding this patch of land is visited by the locals with their children and pets, as this is one of the safest areas to take your dogs for a walk.  You'll often see many cars parked and groups of people hiking the area and making their way to Sioux Mountain, as this is the only access to this amazing lookout. This patch of traditional land is used for Traditional Cultural Teachings (medicines, hunting, trapping) to First Nation youth in our region through Non-Profit organizations and schools.  Some of the best bike and snowmobile trails are located here!

This project should not be placed here and should be away from residents, tourists and left as traditional land for us and our future generations.

Please help and sign this petition to STOP the plans and keep our recreation area beautiful!
