Erin Webb started this petition to Municipality of Clarington

Newtonville is a small town with a big heart. If you've ever been to the Newtonville General Store, you know it embodies that small town spirit - the staff are always there with a smile and to offer a helping hand.

Since opening, the Newtonville General Store has become a staple in the town. Not only does the store and its owner support the community through partnerships with local bakers, farmers and entrepreneurs, they also make basic household necessities available for people, including Canada Post package services and the LCBO. The community has come to rely on these services, especially those without a means of transportation or who are unable to make it into town.

With that being said, the owner of the store was told that his rent will double and is being evicted after years of serving the community. This is where you come in. We are asking you to sign this petition to show support for the efforts to rezone the house next door, which the store owner owns. He is hoping to move the store into that space and continue to serve the community.

In these challenging and unprecedented times, we have to stick together and stand up for what is right. This is your chance. Let’s not let another great, local small business be another casualty, especially one that provides so much to our community.

Thank you for your support - there have already been over 700 signatures on the paper petition started in the store. Please sign and share with anyone who may be interested!
