Sign our petition demanding the Municipal Demarcation Board to correct the ward boundaries of Elandsrand as per the demarcation gazetted for Ward 39, Madibeng Local Municipality, for the 2016 local government elections.

We reject the demarcation gazetted for the 2021 local government elections on the following grounds:

1. The community of Elandsrand was divided into Wards 21 39. Dividing Elandsrand impacts negatively on the development, service delivery programme and community cohesion in dealing with socio- economic challenges.
2. The justification for the delineation of Elandsrand appears to be politically motivated rather than the improvement of governance and service delivery.
3. A total lack of consultation with the Elandsrand community during the pre-demarcation process prior to the 2021 local government election despite the legislative requirement to do so.
4. Dividing the Elandsrand community into two different wards, with particular reference to wards 21 and 39 of Madibeng Municipality has already brought about an adverse impact on service delivery in the community.
    

We demand that Elandsrand be incorporated in a single Ward as per the demarcation gazetted for Ward 39, Madibeng Local Municipality, for the 2016 local government elections.
