In most of the cities footpath meant for pedestrians are encroached by either home owners(if it is in residential area) by extending their pavement or street hawkers , shop owners ( if it is in commercial area) . This causes lot of difficulty to the pedestrians and there is always risk of road accidents.

Even in the small countries like Sri Lanka you will not find such practices because of strict enforcement of law. However in India specially in Delhi , almost in all the residential and commercial areas footpath/ pavements meant for pedestrians are encroached by the nearby property owners .

To make the living conditions better and safe,  it is requested that the concerned authorities must ensure that facilities meant for public are not misused.
