Save Little Possums Daycare + Kindy

Save Little Possums Daycare + Kindy
Problem
We the community ask the Mundaring Shire to guarantee that Little Possums Sharing Centre (daycare + kindy) continues to operate within the same facility and that they support Little Possums through the transition to a new Childcare Provider through the new incorporated body.
Solution
Mundaring Shire to step in and guarantee that the purpose-built childcare building which is owned by Mundaring Shire remain the Little Possums facility for childcare and early childhood education into the future.
Personal story
The Little Possums Sharing Centre has been serving the hills community for over 40 years with quality childcare and early education for our young ones.
The staff are well loved by children and it is so highly regarded there is a long waitlist for children.
My son has been attending for 19 months and has thrived under the care of the educators who truly care for him.
Daycare in our hills community is extremely limited, and as I work from home it is not convenient for me to leave the hills to find care for him.
A group of passionate parents is forming a new Not for Profit organisation to take over the provider from the current provider who no longer wants the responsibility.
Going forward, the premises in which Little Possums currently operates is under lease to Mundaring Sharing from Mundaring Shire.
Mundaring Sharing are not operating in good faith or in an honest manner and appear to have no intention of honouring the sublease they have proposed to Little Possums in an email from 25 October, nor the transition of the facility to a new provider.
The building was purpose built with funds from the Mundaring Shire and Lotterywest grants. We need community support to get behind this so that the shire recognises how important our Little Possums community is and for the shire to guarantee the facility remain available for Little Possums into the future.
