The citizens of East Portland are not happy with the status of safety in our community. There is a clear lack of coordination between the Sheriff’s Office, the City, and Portland Police Bureau. Your pettiness and inaction to come together is unacceptable. Multnomah county residents pay some of the highest taxes in the nation. Our Portland Officers receive zero support from the Sheriff’s office by way of city patrol. This is evident in every media story, try to spot a deputy vehicle in aid of PPB. I am calling for a public forum with the Mayor, the Sheriff, and the Chief to discuss this with the east side community members, especially in Hazlewood, where we are shouldering the belly of this problem. Show us that our elected and appointed officials can elicit change and make the streets safe before summer.
