OSAGIE OFUNMWEGBE EVBA started this petition to @Muhammad Buhari and

The revised 2020 budget is proposing to cut funding to Universal Basic Education Comission(UBEC) and the Basic Health Care Fund(BHF). It is understable that oil revenue is projected to decrease from N2.64tn to N924bn budgeted earlier, Non oil revenue is projected to decrease from N1.81tn to N1.62tn, revenue from customs is expected to be at N450bn from a previous target of N680bn , but his does not justify the reduction of funds allocated to UBEC and BHF. National Assembly is proposed to get N115bn, while UBEC and BHF is proposed to get N51bn and N25bn.

UBEC & BHCF budgets are tied to revenue performance but govt is not supplemeting the deficit  for these  integral part of the budget. NASS gets more funding than Education and Healthcare combined. The N27bn proposrd for the renovation of NASS can equip every primary health care centre in the country. Capital allocations to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education were cut  by 25% and 20% respectively. This is no efficiency in running government. The Senators and HOR members are not up to 500 yet they get more funding in the proposed budget than Health and Education. where does our priorites lie. Every well meaning Nigeria must resist this. We have the largest population of out of school children in the world, currently pegged at 10.5 million by UNICEF estimates. We have one of the highest  maternal and infant mortality rates in the world.

If this proposed budget is allowed to stand, many people will die from easily preventable diseases, because covid 19 is severely disrupting our health sectors. Allocations for the Presidency,Legislature and Juduciary is normally dictates by statutory allocations it is not revenue dependent. But ask yourself, is this not the highest level of selfishness exhibited by the leadership class. It shows a misplacement of priorities. The  sick young child , old lady and the pregnant mother will need to travel in excess of 100km from rural areas, often over bad roads to get medical attention. Is this humane, where is our humanity.

We must resist this oppression, Lwnd your voice and signature.

Sign this petition, posterity will judge us if we allow this injustice stand. Contact the representative of your constituency in the Senate and HOR ask them lend thier voice in stopping injustice. If we fail to stop thos posterity will remember us as a generation of cowards.
