Harrison Dang for ASB President

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

On April 27, 2018, the title and position of the top 5 elected ASB nominees for the year 2018-2019 were announced to the school. Many of the students were shocked and confused over the results. Why was Harrison Dang named as the vice president instead of president? It is in our belief that Harrison should have gotten president as a reward for the amount of work he has dedicated to class office and ASB since his freshman year. We strongly feel that with only 5 people deciding who the new president would be, the results were biased and not equitable.

Those who know Harrison Dang also know the amount of time, work, dedication, and passion he puts into ASB. He has been active in class office and ASB since his freshman year. He has put in countless hours of his time to paint posters, make flyers, edit videos, design t-shirts, not to mention the amount of work he puts into his other extracurricular activities. Harrison was planning to dedicate his senior year to being the best ASB President, so he dropped his officer roles in other clubs in order to do so. He would have been successful as ASB President, and there is no questioning his success if he takes over the position of vice president. Regardless of the position he has, he will work just as hard as a president would, but if he assumes vice president, someone else will take credit for his hard work.

We, the undersigned, call upon Mt. Pleasant’s ASB of 2018 for another review of ASB President for 2019 so that Harrison Dang may assume the position as deservedly so. We are here to peacefully exercise our 1st Amendment and are not, in any way, trying to undermine any specific individuals. The students of Mt. Pleasant High School deserve a voice and the opportunity to decide who should be their ASB President for 2019.
