Jessica Stoiko started this petition to Mt Juliet City Council

Every year, the city dons Christmas decorations for the holiday season. They are usually colorful and festive, and they’re all appropriate.

All except one. Every year, the City of Mt Juliet puts up a nativity scene on city property outside of the City Hall municipal building. This is highly inappropriate: public land should strictly adhere to the separation between Church and State.

In addition, this nativity scene discourages inclusivity in our growing town. Not everyone who lives here is a religious Christian and not everyone who lives here celebrates Christmas. This should be something embraced by the City government in order to encourage the people of Mt Juliet to be inclusive of their neighbors with different traditions, cultures, and observances.

A nativity scene has no place on municipal land and should be removed from outside of the Mt Juliet City Hall building immediately.
