Provide Living Wages + Benefits for Returning Mt. Hood Meadows Employees
For years, Mt. Hood Meadows has had significant turnover with passionate and loyal staff feeling forced to leave, simply because of a lack of a living wage and long-term life benefits. Depts like Lift Ops, Ski School and others have employees who return year after year, and yet often must take significant pay and benefits cuts, and live in poverty to work at Meadows. This results in financial situations that are untenable for veteran employees, forcing them to leave. The Covid Pandemic has raised wages all across the state, and living wages are on the rise across the country. As Meadows employees, we are asking that while first year hires may need to be paid at a lower rate before they are proven to be reliable: that proven, hard-working returning employees deserve a living wage, and real life benefits like 401k plans, and medical benefits that reflect our dedication that make Meadows what it is. We ask for 15 an hour minimum for returning employees, with at least a dollar increase for each level of seniority, + Raises, and retirement benefits. We deserve it. We dedicate our lives and hearts and risk our safety for Meadows. We deserve a stable, livable financial future for it. Thank you.
