I am an alumn of MDHS who has since come out as gay. I was directly impacted by Jerry Buell's actions.

Love is love. The more people that realize this, the better we will become as a society. Hate won't get us anywhere. In order for us to be progressive we need to eliminate hatred. Teachers, of all people should be the ones setting good examples and eliminating hate - not encouraging and spreading it.

My best friend is gay and I think that people should stop discriminating against gay people. They who they are. It's not like you're going to turn gay if you come into contact with you and there is nothing wrong with being gay.

I am an editorial columnist for the South Flroida Gay News and I have been all over this story since it unfolded. I am disgusted and outraged that a teacher named Jerry Buell would be re-instated to continue his agenda to teach hatred angainst the LGBT Community ! This is disgusting and for him and his supporters to hide behind our first ammendment right to freedom of speech as an excuse to allow such ignornat behavior within a classroom full of students. I encorage all LGBT people to continue to write the proper administractors and Florida Respresentatives to have this teacher Jerry Buell fired or forced to resign.

As a survivor of Jerry Buell's classes, I can definitely tell you it does get better. Stay strong in who you are and know that real love and respect is yours, not the dogmatic inappropriate rhetoric you'll hear in his classroom.

All students need to be shown compassion and understanding for ALL they're worries. This includes their sexuality. If this teacher can't do that, where will these kids turn?

Teachers are some of the most important people in student's lives. Just as much as parents are the opinion of an educator can most defiantly cause conflict to students who may know or are of the GLTB youth. Making this video will help students.
