Throughout this past year, the MSW graduating class of 2021 has demonstrated nothing but resilience, strength, and determination. We have shown the true definition of flexibility in the face of a worldwide pandemic, which has changed education for all of us as we know it.

This graduation ceremony means more than finishing a Master's program, which is a huge accomplishment it itself. It represents our hard work and resilience during a challenging, unfamiliar time. As our program transformed from in-person to fully remote, we have learned to adjust and excel. Regardless of our internships turning into hybrid or fully remote experiences, we continued to learn and grow as social workers, despite the challenges.

We are signing this petition to advocate for an in-person graduation ceremony. COVID may have taken a lot from us, but it shouldn't take away our opportunity to celebrate. We have had to miss out on in-person schooling, internships, and normal life - the last thing we want to miss out on is a graduation. We deserve to safely celebrate together at our graduation! We will celebrate not only as new social workers, but as a community more resilient and stronger than ever before. We are, and will always be, stronger together!
