Fire Brian Williams

Brian Williams' comments following the missile strike on Syria were obscene and offensive. A lethal act of war, in which at least seven people – including four children – were reportedly killed, an act which was likely instigated merely to boost Trump's approval ratings, should be, at the very least, questioned and investigated, and ultimately condemned. Instead, Williams couldn't stop gushing about the "beautiful pictures" of the missiles being launched, going so far as to quote the lyrics of Leonard Cohen, lyrics whose complexity and irony sailed far above Williams head, not unlike the cruise missiles he felt compelled to celebrate. MSNBC should be no place for this kind of mindless glorification of death and destruction. Fire Brian Williams!

FYI, here are the lyrics in question:

They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom
For trying to change the system from within
I'm coming now, I'm coming to reward them
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin.

I'm guided by a signal in the heavens
I'm guided by this birthmark on my skin
I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin.

(If Williams' comments didn't make Cohen turn in his grave, I don't know what would)
