The 2020 election is a stick of dynamite just waiting to explode. According to recent polling, the majority of both the supporters of Donald Trump and Joe Biden see this election as the most important of their lifetimes. In addition, this election has an unprecedented capability of quickly spiraling out of control. The United States is being hit hard by the coronavirus, and as a result, a much larger share of the electorate will be casting their ballot by mail. Simultaneously, President Donald Trump has cast extreme doubt on the election among his supporters by continuing to question the capability of mail-in voting to be a fair process. On the other side, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and other top democrats have cast their own doubts on the election among their supporters, by arguing that Donald Trump will cheat to be re-elected by voter suppression, voter intimidation, and by defunding the post office. Whether or not either side's arguments are correct, doubt in Americans' confidence in the election results will be deadly in 2020. According to a political strategy group associated with Bloomberg News, it is very possible for Donald Trump to have appeared to win over 400 electoral votes on Election Night, but lose by a wide margin of electoral votes as mail-in ballots trickle in and are counted over the ensuing hours and days. As a result of the 2020 election's combustibility, what Americans are watching on their television screens will be more important than ever. Millions of Americans will be tuning in to MSNBC on November 3rd, and we need Tom Brokaw to be the head anchor. As the main anchor for NBC's election night coverage from 1988 to 2004, Brokaw was well-known for his lack of bias. On an election night that will likely explode into a partisan bloodbath, emotions will run high, even among people like previous head commentator Rachael Maddow. But Americans watching their televisions on November 3rd will be have full faith in the presentation of honesty and the facts if Tom Brokaw is the voice of the election night news. America is in a dangerous position. We face the real possibility of a large swath of our population losing faith in our democratic system. There is zero room for bias, whether from the left or right.
