Dear MSIS 3243 Class, this petition is being brought to the dean of the OSU MSIS program.  From the feedback which I have received by the class I believe this action is necessary to improve the course.  Reasoning for this is due to the class's feeling of unpreparedness regarding our final exam worth 40% of the final grade.  The class average for the exam being a 54%.

Actions to resolve this issue could be the student option for the course to be recorded as a “P” (Passing grade) or for a curve of the final exam leading to a class average of 70%.

I believe it is necessary to bring attention to the dean for reasons as follows.  Firstly, the unclear and lack of coverage for exam material (i.e. class examples and lecture notes) available on canvas and in lectures.  Secondly, the absence of communication for the course objectives via announcements and emails.  One final concern is the lack of professor-student feedback/correspondence offered upon the completion of assignments.

In a final note much of the course material was covered using excel formatting and examples.  If this course is going to be taught using these methods, I only think it is fair that we are able to take our exams using the same process we were taught.
